The Geospatial Engineer manages projects designed to enhance processes and improve the speed, efficiency, and quality of work provided to our customers and is the primary point of contact between department users and R&D for issues related to the various software applications, process improvements, and training needs to ensure products meet or exceed customer expectations. Develops and hands off new Work Instructions to Operations staff. Services support requests, interacts with production staff, tests software, and assists with software rollout and training.

  • Leads process improvement projects to make Lidar operations run more efficiently
  • Creates work instructions and documentation
  • Researches, responds to, and troubleshoots non-conformances /helpdesk tickets
  • Assists with production activities as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Geomatics Engineering, Geospatial Engineering, Civil Engineering, or an equivalent combination of college coursework and work experience.
  • 1+ years' experience with LIDAR and/or Orthoimagery data production and quality control.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Advanced analytical decision making and problem-solving skills involving basic to moderate troubleshooting abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills.

Preferred:

  • 2+ years' experience with LIDAR and/or Orthoimagery data production and quality control.
  • 1+ years' experience working with geospatial (GIS) products.
  • ASPRS Certification.
  • Experience with airborne GPS processing.
  • Knowledge of software development tools.
  • Project management experience.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet multiple deadlines.

Physical Demand:

  • Visual acuity - ability to distinguish full color spectrum.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to sit and focus on imagery on a computer monitor for long periods of time
  • Manual dexterity as needed to use accepted tools of management, i.e., computers, computer monitors, mouse, keyboard.
  • Ability to bend and crawl in tight spaces for equipment set-up and testing.

Working Conditions:

  • Low light working conditions.
  • Office - air conditioned, raised floor, fluorescent light, cubicle - environment.
