Managing Director Job at UCLA

UCLA Los Angeles, CA

The UCLA Prison Education Program (PEP) seeks a Managing Director to help advance our mission by strategic planning and communications, lead organizing, branding, analyzing, researching, implementing and evaluating courses, programs and initiatives. The Managing Director will also support the development of the UCLA Center for Justice. The position is based in Los Angeles at the UCLA campus. The term of the position is from Spring (May) 2023 through Summer (August 30) 2024. PEP is an interdisciplinary program, composed of UCLA faculty and staff from various departments and outside community partners, which offers UCLA courses and programs at southern California correctional facilities. The facilities participating in PEP courses and programs include: Barry J. Nidorf Juvenile Hall (BJN) and Central Juvenile Hall (CJH) for boys, Camp Joseph Scott ( CJS) for girls, and the Custody to Community Transitional Reentry Program (CCTRP) for women, and Victorville Federal Correctional Facility.

The Managing Director is intended to work with and oversee implementation of the vision created in collaboration with the Faculty Directors and the Advisory Board in developing the UCLA PEP and UCLA Center for Justice. The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills, overseeing research and evaluation, lead organizing, budgeting, overseeing graphic and website design, and established research experience. As the program is growing rapidly -- and the Center is in the development stages, the candidate will need flexibility in adjusting to new work related requirements as they arise. The UCLA Prison Education Program encourages and supports the formerly and currently incarcerated community, including the Underground Scholars Initiative (USI), and UCLA student organizations serving those who are currently or formerly incarcerated and/or system impacted.
