Overview:
Building heavy industrial vehicle components for our customer. Includes building axles and brakes for large vehicles. Must be built according to the schedule and in time to satisfy the customer’s delivery requirements. Job will include sub-assembling and complete assembling front and rear dressed axles.
Core Responsibilities:
- Following all site safety rules and safe operating practices.
- Adhering to all work instructions and inventory control responsibilities as needed.
- Meeting all site attendance expectations.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping at all times.
Additional Attributes:
- Must be able to demonstrate acceptable attendance standards
- Operator may be required to run various pneumatic tools and hoists.
- Job function may include jobs associated with minor maintenance and material handling of front and rear axles.
- Be an effective team member and help other operators within the Team when needed. Working as a team member is essential to the successful operation of the Team.
- Operators may be asked to perform more than one function per day to assist material flow.
- Must be able to work required overtime as scheduled.
Responsibilities:
- Essential duties and responsibilities to include but not limited to:
- Assemble parts by using torque guns and/or hand tools.
- Work safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by following department and plant safety regulations and wearing proper protective equipment.
- Pull parts for use in production by reading work order and obtaining parts from properly labeled bins, crates or boxes.
- Assure parts meet quality specs by using visual inspection and reading various gages.
- Work as a team with other Dressed Axle Technicians to produce a quality product in a safe and efficient manner.
- Apply parts to fully construct dressed axles by following written work instructions and/or properly demonstrated techniques as shown by trainers.
- Add grease and/or oil to products by operating automatic greasing/oiling guns.
- Look up parts and other specifications by entering data into a computer to obtain the correct information.
- Troubleshoot work-related problems by discussing issues with other dressed axle technicians or the line leader.
- Assure questionable parts are okay by looking at pictures included with work instructions.
- Perform other duties assigned by line leader.
- Verify truck number by checking tag on axle for proper information.
- Assure job tasks for production line are completed by signing off on zone duty.
- Label non-conforming products by filling out tags and placing on defective parts and placing in proper location.
Physical Demands
- Constant standing and movement (bending, stooping, lifting) to perform the various functions required to assemble front and rear axles and brake components.
- Use of overhead hoist or lift truck will be required in making some set ups as well as the use of air tools.
- Exercise sound judgment in reacting to problems inherent to the process.
- Repetitive manipulation of components in excess of 25 pounds may be required.
- Work area is air/heat conditioned.
Education/Certifications:
- A High School Diploma or GED certificate is desired.
Required Qualifications:
Candidate must have at least six months of manufacturing experience or related education.
