Mechanical Assembler - Aerospace Job at Heroux Devtek
Summary of Responsibilities
The Assembler constructs, assembles, or rebuilds mechanical assemblies and equipment. This job description indicates the general nature and level of the work that is expected. Primary Responsibilities
- Fastens and installs piping, fixtures, or wiring and electrical components to form assemblies or subassemblies, using hand tools, rivet guns, and welding equipment
- Inspects, operates, and tests completed products to verify functioning, machine capabilities, and conformance to customer specifications, if applicable according to division.
- Lays out and drills, reams, taps, and cuts parts for assembly
- Positions and aligns components for assembly, manually or using hoists
- Reads and interprets assembly blueprints and specifications manuals, and plans assembly or building operations
- Removes rough spots, and smooths surfaces to fit, trim, or clean parts, using hand tools and power tools
- Reworks, repairs, and replaces damaged parts or assemblies
- Sets and verifies parts clearances
- Verifies conformance of parts to stock lists and blueprints, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers
- Assembles systems of gears by aligning and meshing gears in gearboxes
- Maintains and lubricates parts and components
- Sets up and operates metalworking machines, such as milling and grinding machines, to shape or fabricate parts
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma
- 5 years of assembly experience is required
