St. Elizabeth Home is in search of qualified M.A.A.s that will contribute to helping residents live long and well. As the M.A.A., you work with our nurses to provide to the residents assigned the highest quality of care by administrating the resident’s plan of care.
AM SHIFT: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM Part-Time
PM SHIFT: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM Full-Time
Casual /PRN also available four shifts per month – two weekdays and two weekend shifts.
The M.A.A.s works a rotating schedule including every other weekend and holiday.

The MAA, under the direction and supervision of a Nurse, prepares, administers and records medications as directed and per policy. The MAA may also have other duties assigned, to them, such as taking vital signs and/or performing CNA duties as directed.
The MAA reports directly to the nurse team leader.
This position is accountable to the Nurse on Duty and the Director of Nursing.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Maintains and actively promotes effective communication with patients and family members / personal representatives.
· Responsible for maintaining a positive image of Saint Elizabeth Home in the community keeping in alignment with our mission, vision, and values.
· Administers scheduled medications prescribed for routine administration according to established medication administration policies and procedures.
· Performs all necessary related functions, such as blood pressure checks and pulses in conjunction with the medication pass as needed.
· Follows all state and federal guidelines, as well as in-house processes and policies.
· Attends training sessions, staff meetings and in-services to stay abreast of current drug therapies and in-house processes. Successfully completes required educational units annually.
· Performs other duties as directed by supervisors.
· Communicates with residents and other staff in a positive, effective and generous manner.
· Communicates changes in the residents’ conditions to the nurse immediately and accurately.
· Performs other similar duties, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Commitment to quality programs and services for the residents.

· Ability to relate well to the residents/ families, staff, churches and the community in general.
· Ability to maintain and protect the confidentiality of information.
· Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound decisions and exhibit flexibility when needed.
· Ability to administer medications to the residents in a safe manner.
· Ability to understand and effectively carry out verbal and/or written instructions.
· Ability to accurately document medication administration.
· Ability to detect symptoms of change in resident's condition and communicate changes to Staff Nurse immediately.
· Ability to communicate effectively with residents and other staff.
· A positive outlook and willingness to learn
· Willingness to work as a member of a team and possess good organization and time management skills.
· Ability to stand or walk the majority of the shift.
· Ability to push or pull, bend or twist, sit, kneel or crouch and reach high or low levels.
· Capable of walking quickly, balancing unusual loads and lifting at least 50 pounds.
· Tolerant of interruptions and flexible when changes occur - may be subjected to verbal or physical outbursts from residents.
· Able to use arms and hands to push, pull, grasp or write.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
· Minimum age of 18 years old is required.
· High school graduate or G.E.D. is required.
· Has successfully completed the State of Wisconsin approved Medication Administration Assistant training program, and is certified by the State of Wisconsin for medication administration.
· Has received training on medication actions, medication effects on body systems and the side effects, especially in relation to the geriatric population.
· Has successfully completed course work in measuring and recording blood pressure and radial pulse.
· Must maintain a valid CNA certification.
· A LPN may be employed as a MAA and satisfy MAA experience and training by maintaining licensure with the State of Wisconsin.
