The Division of Public Health has an opening for part-time temporary, with benefits, Office Specialist 2 with the Idaho Bureau of Vital Records and Health Statistics office in downtown Boise. The Idaho Bureau of Vital Records and Health Statistics is the official custodian of confidential certificates of birth, death, stillbirth, miscarriage, marriage, and divorce events that occur in the State of Idaho.
If you have an eye for detail, have exemplary data entry and organization skills, enjoy keeping busy, and like helping others we would like to meet you! Duties of this position on the Vital Records Registration team include reviewing certificates for program compliance prior to filing, working with hospital birth clerks, county clerks, and funeral homes to file and correct records and using Bureau electronic systems to enter and retrieve information.
This position will work 25 hours per week.

Employees are eligible for benefits if they work twenty (20) hours or more per week and the term of employment is expected to exceed five (5) continuous months.
Example of Duties
- Ensure certificates received for filing are complete per program requirements
- Data entry of Vital events from physical forms into an electronic database
- Correspond with midwives, county clerks, and funeral homes asking for information regarding the registration of vital events
- Explain bureau policies and procedures
- Maintain filing of certificates
Minimum Qualifications
You must possess all the minimum qualifications listed below to pass the exam for this position. Good knowledge of rules of effective business English usage, spelling, punctuation, and grammar.- Experience using alphabetical, numerical, or subject filing systems to include determining file names, setting up new files, classifying, labeling, filing, and retrieving.
- Experience reviewing documents for compliance with established procedures.
- Experience using a computer to enter and retrieve information.
- Experience answering a business telephone using knowledge of business telephone procedures and etiquette.
- Ability to keyboard/type at the rate of 40 net wpm or more.
- Possess basic math skills.
