Summary:

Train to be a Pharmacy Technician with the Johns Hopkins Department of Pharmacy! The Pharmacy technician trainee must meet a minimum of 400 credit hours through online and on the job training. The training program is a 12 week program designed to prepare you for a career as a Pharmacy Technician. Upon successfully completing the JHHS pharmacy technician training program, Trainees will be qualified to obtain the Maryland Board of Pharmacy registration and work as a Pharmacy Technician (non-certified) at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Pharmacy Technician (non-certified) are then required to obtain national PTCB certification within 1 year of hire.

Shift:

Full Time, Rotating Day and Evening Shifts (40 hours per week)

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED certificate
  • Demonstrate appropriate reading skill by achieve a score of 70% or higher on pre-enrollment reading comprehension competency
  • Demonstrate basic mathematical calculations skills by achieve a score of 70% or higher on pre-enrollment math competency
  • Requires efficient computer skills for online didactic learning
  • Requires analytical ability to maintain records, measure drugs, and recognize common computer errors.
  • Requires interpersonal skills to interact with physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals to obtain, verify and exchange information.
  • No experience is required
  • Requires ability to use Pharmacy Technician University (PTU) online platform for didactic learning and competency assessments
  • Requires ability to use computer for data access, and understanding of technology used to automate drug ordering, storage, preparation and dispensing procedures.
