Prevention and Education Coordinator (Staff) Job at Nazareth College
The Prevention and Education Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and facilitating prevention education and bystander intervention programs addressing sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking. This position will work with campus and community partners to develop a strategic plan for an ongoing, comprehensive, systemic approach to preventing and addressing sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking, as well as encouraging health relationships at Nazareth College.
Essential Functions
- Engage in strategic planning for an ongoing, comprehensive, systemic approach to preventing and addressing sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking, as well as encouraging health relationships and Nazareth College.
- Chair the Coordinated Community Response Team (CCRT) to help the College shape a comprehensive response to sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking. Recruits and maintains a working relationship with community organizations, volunteers, faculty and staff for support and assistance in program planning.
- Lead the peer education program, including recruiting, training, advising, and supervising eight (8) students that serve as Peer Educators and two (2) Graduate Assistants.
- Develop, implement, expand, and enhance programs aimed toward preventing sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence and stalking.
- Collaborate and build relationships with colleagues in other relevant offices/departments
- Organize prevention or educational workshops for all new first-year and transfer students.
- Provide training for faculty and staff serving in roles on campus which place them in a position to be helpful to survivors of sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking.
- Remain current on information and news pertaining to sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence and stalking, as well as related prevention efforts. This includes engaging in professional development to maintain best practices.
- Conduct regular needs and outcome assessments for the planning and evaluation of prevention education programming.
- Obtain, develop, and distribute print and electronic educational materials or other passive programming efforts that address sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence and stalking.
- Provide on-going communication to keep the campus community informed regarding the progress of the sexual misconduct and relationship violence prevention work and related campus climate changes.
- Attend all required training and meetings related to grant and provide updates and reports as requested.
- Serve as consultant to campus constituents on educational issues related to sexual assault, relationship violence and stalking.
- Assist with case management system (Maxient).
- Serve as a case manager for NazCares and provide general support by following up and connecting students to resources as necessary.
- Follow up with students involved in on and off campus incidents to provide support and resources as needed.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Serve on divisional and College committees as appropriate.
- Attend all departmental and divisional meetings and retreats.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field with 2+ years of experience.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated experience relevant to health sexuality, sexual misconduct prevention, and/or dating violence prevention education
- Ability to work independently, communicate effectively and creatively through written and oral presentations, and work evening and weekends as needed.
- Strong commitment to student growth and development; related experience working with college students
- Ability to work collaboratively and successfully across cultures and styles at all levels of the organization.
- Exceptional organizational skills and be able to attend to and prioritize projects.
- Ability to successfully manage interpersonal working relationships.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Handles confidential information sensitively and appropriately.
- Master’s degree in related field
- Demonstrated understanding of Title IX, NYS Enough is Enough and Clery.
- Demonstrated experience and/or knowledge of working with underserved communities, including but not limited to students of color, LGBTQ students, international students, and students with intersecting identities.
- Experience with grant writing and reports
- High emphasis placed on professionalism, efficiency and a positive attitude.
- Annual participation in professional development; focuses on acquiring, improving and applying technological and other skills that are essential
