Principal Food Service Worker - Ronald Reagan Medical Center Job at UCLA Health
This position is in a cafeteria setting serving from various hot and cold food stations. Principal Food Service Workers help ensure that customers receive appropriate portion sizes and presentation. They help setting up service lines, pre-plating foods, preparation of meals, working the salad bar, hot entrée, international, beverage, runner, desserts, and other areas as needed.
Must maintain good public relations with external, and internal customers with the spirit of CICARE. Responsible for handling problems with customers in a diplomatic manner. Must read all memos and bulletins relevant to the operation. Must follow safety and sanitation procedures as outlined by the Department's HACCP program and as prescribed by JCAHO.
The position is also responsible for developing and maintaining excellent customer service skill levels for both internal and external customers while adhering to all safety and sanitation standards as outlined by JCAHO and HACCP as well as full participation as a team member, focusing consistently on the department’s mission to “Meet or Exceed Our Customer’s Expectations.”
Salary range: $18.90-$23.02 Hourly
Required:
- Skill in reading, speaking, and writing English in order to comprehend written memos, policies, EPR's as well as interact with customers effectively.
- Basic production skills for pre-plating of retail foods, assisting with bulk preparation of food, and preparing sandwiches.
- Ability to organize and maintain clean work stations on an on-going basis.
- Knowledge of portion control and serving procedures.
- Knowledge of retail operations such as station setup, replenishment, merchandising and inventory procedures.
- Interpersonal skills to accomplish departmental mission of exceeding customer's expectations.
- Knowledge of, and adherence to prescribed safety, sanitation, and food handling practices according to HACCP and JCAHO policies.
- Ability to work independently, following through on assignments with minimal direction.
- Ability to assist in training peers as needed.
- Skill in performing a variety of duties, often changing priorities to appropriately handle diverse situations.
- Knowledge of and adherence to all Departmental, University, and Hospital policies as relates to employment, such as Environment of Care, removal of property, dress code, punctuality and attendance standards.
- Ability to function fully as a team member, participating in on-going performance improvement projects.
- Ability to stand, bend, walk, reach, lift, push and pull for prolonged periods of time in hot or cold areas.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull 50+lbs.
- Ability to work around or use strong cleaning solutions.
- Ability to set up service lines, pre-plating desserts, salads, sandwiches,and serving on various stations.
- Ability to assigned work areas, such as the Beverage Station, Salad Bar, the HotEntrée Station, the International Corner and assisting the grill.
- Working knowledge of coffee brewers, tea brewers, toasters, steam tables, fixed can opener, condiment dispenser, and computers. Use ranges from occasional to frequent depending on job tasks assigned.
