Process Operator

Global Thermostat is seeking a Process Operator that will be responsible for operations of its DAC2k (Direct Air Capture 2,000 tons/year) prototype for carbon capture in Brighton, CO. The Operator will conduct and monitor plant operation in a safe manner, perform routine maintenance of mechanical systems including pneumatic, hydraulic, and boiler systems, and assist engineering staff with ongoing experiments in the rapidly growing Direct Air Capture industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Competencies:

• Oversee and manage plant operation using computer-controlled process operations
• Work closely with engineering staff in conducting operation and maintenance Direct Air Capture at Global Thermostat Technology Center in Brighton, CO
• Assist in the Research and Development of new Process Operating conditions to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere for scale-up technology
• Perform safe startup, shutdown, and operation of various equipment including Boilers; Cooling towers; Other rotating equipment including fans and pumps.
• Respond to alarms and problems and make necessary corrections
• Conduct Preventative Maintenance (PM) on multiple pieces of equipment by inspection, sampling, and measurement. Complete PM reports in Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
• Control, monitor and make necessary adjustments on control systems and manually operated equipment
• Work efficiently to minimize plant downtime

Qualifications:

• Certificate or Associates Degree in Plant Operations or related field
• Experience reading Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and mechanical drawings
• Understanding of general process operation basics including pressure, heat transfer, and fluid flow
• Familiarity with plant control systems for automated process control
• High School or equivalent education
• Basic math skills
• Demonstrated computer skills
• Excellent communication skills

Work Environment / Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Work a rotating shift and overtime as required (including weekends & holidays). Four days on – Four days off; 12-hour shifts

Salary Range:

• $25.00 - $40.00 /hour
