Cambridge Valley Machining provides comprehensive design through manufacturing services for startups, Fortune 500 businesses, and other domestic and global customers. CVM is a proud supplier within the Space and the Defense industries. Due to business growth we are seeking to fill a newly created position, Purchasing Agent.

The Purchaing Agent is responsible for the procurement of materials through the development and implementation of procurement plans and the management of supplier relationship. Other areas of responsibility include price negotiation, and coordinating with production, inventory control, and quality control.

Essentials Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops sources for the procurement of supplies, services and equipment while effectively negotiating the best value and optimized delivery, payment terms, price, quality, and schedules and performs vendor audits to maintain an active "Preferred Vendor List"
  • Works to develop suppliers that will return quotes in a predetermined time frame thereby expediting the quoting process
  • Effectively negotiates to provide positive purchase price variance
  • Holds suppliers accountable and assures that defective parts are dispatched immediately
  • Evaluates manufacturing inventory accuracy to assure correct parts and quantities are ordered and delivered in a timely manner and communicates with manufacturing and sales regarding order status
  • Obtains approval for all expedite shipments and spending as required
  • Maintains MSDS lists and library
  • Supports quoting process
  • Resolves discrepancies with purchase orders with receiving/accounting
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality forms
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, economics, business, logistics, or related field preferred
  • CPIM, CSCP a plus
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience inclusive of sourcing, negotiating and managing supply chain preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with and understanding of international procurement (?)
  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, problem solve solutions

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $83,469.25 per year
