Registered Nurse - Emergency Department Job at Hiawatha Community Hospital
Amberwell Hiawatha is currently offering a $20,000 sign on bonus for a Full Time RN Night position in the Emergency Department.
BASIC FUNCTION: Provide care to patients of all age ranges within the scope of practice for RN, as defined by KSBN and per Amberwell Hiawatha Policies and Procedures.
SHIFT DAYS/HOURS:
Full Time includes: 3-12 hour shifts 6 pm - 6 am
Weekend rotation required
QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Kansas and graduate from an accredited school of nursing. BLS, ACLS, TNCC, PALS, ONS course completion within 1 year of employment.
Experience:Previous ER experience preferred, necessary orientation is provided.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities:Rapid and accurate patient assessment; ability to work under stress.
Physical:Sits, stands, and walks most of work day intermittently. Must assist in moving and supporting patients and may be subject to strain. Persons in this position must have adequate hearing and visual ability in order to complete duties
DUTIES:1.Assess the health status of all patients immediately upon arrival in the ER. Obtains pertinent history and patient assessment. Completes appropriate forms correctly.
2. Documents assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record. Documentation is legible, timely and in accordance with policy. Documentation reflects objective/subjective data, nursing interventions and patients response to treatment. Notes physician orders accurately and in a timely manner.
3.Interprets and organizes data and communicates data by verbalizing pertinent information to physicians and other health care personnel.
4. Implements actions based on patient status, physician orders and Hiawatha Community Hospital ER Policies and Procedures
5. Provides care based on the best evidence available. Participates in unit or facility shared leadership. Interacts and participates in the education, role development, and orientation of Emergency Nursing personnel, patients, students, families and visitors. Promotes/supports growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate. This includes but not limited to serving as House Supervisor when assigned.
6. Acts rapidly and efficiently. Manages self, patients and other employees during any emergency situation
7.Knows the location and how to operate all ER equipment/supplies.
8.Air Ambulance evacuation procedures are followed correctly by ER nurse.
9.Is knowledgeable of Code Blue and Trauma Activation procedures and standing orders.
10. Assists in keeping department clean and organized, and restocks supplies as needed
11. Teaches and instructs patient and/ or family in care of patient.
12. Remains competent and reviews new updates to the EMR
13. Ensures that a Registered Nurse completes a Medical Screening Exam on every patient that presents to the dedicated emergency department. All patients presenting are screened for emergent, urgent, and non-urgent status.
14. Communicates with the Infusion Clinic Staff and Pharmacy on scheduling patients for outpatient infusions after hours.
15. Performs accurate patient registration and charting in the EDM. Fixes corrections in given time set.
16. Manages self during departmental downtime. Including, but not limited to: outdates management, completing assigned education and assisting in other departments as necessary.
17. Completes transfer paperwork and makes necessary phone calls during transfers. Gives report to EMS, providers, and nurses, etc.
18.Enhance Self-knowledge of drug therapy and therapeutics by actively participating in staff development programs and other education programs such as antibiotic stewardship
19. Participates in ongoing surveillance and education of infection prevention practices and protocols.
20. Other duties as assigned.
