A Bus Aide is responsible for assisting the School Bus Driver in maintaining order on the bus, overseeing the loading and unloading of all student passengers and attending to their needs until the bus reaches its destination.

Bus Monitors are the first person to step off the bus, at every stop, to ensure traffic conditions allow the student passengers are aware of and obey the rules and regulations established for their safety. The Bus Aide must be able to get along well with students.

Job Description

* Check and account for all student passengers and maintain order on the school bus;

* Makes certain students are seated promptly after boarding the bus and remain seated until the bus reaches its destination;

* Assists students in wheelchairs and apply safety and restraining devices as needed;

* Assists students on and off the bus in order to prevent accidents or injury and to guide them to cross the street safely;

* May be required to operate the bus radio in the case of emergency;

* May be required to administer first-aid;

* Attends job-training workshops and safety meetings.

* Performs related duties as required.
