Job Summary: Responsible for accurate documentation of data collected, diagnosis made and treatment initiated. This includes exam, tests, prescriptions & recommendations. Provide chair side doctor assistance & administer treatment ordered by doctor. Prepare exam rooms and assist in patient education regarding medications and procedures.

$1000 sign on bonus with no certifications and a $2000 sign on bonus with certifications (COA, COT, COMT)!
Responsibilities:
Accurate documentation of data collected, diagnosis made and treatment initiated. This includes exam, tests, prescriptions & recommendations. Provide chair side doctor assistance & administer treatment ordered by doctor. Prepare exam rooms and assist in patient education regarding medications and procedures.
What You'll Be Doing Each Day:
Assist in providing quality care to IEC patients receiving ophthalmic care and treatment.
Obtain and update complete medical/social history of patients
Assist with patient exams
Prep exam rooms appropriately
Accurately transcribe during physician exam of patients.
Give precise and concise instructions to patients
Give written instructions and orders to patients
Give accurate prescription and lab orders
Assist with minor procedures/lasers
Check visual acuity
Check blood pressure as needed
Give post op teaching to patients
Patch patients (post procedure or injury)
Accurately complete routing slip: dx, coding, return visit
Complete fax forms
Check chart prior to exam for any outstanding labs, rx results, etc.
Give proper contact lens teaching as needed
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Basic writing and English skills.
Medical experience.
Pleasant personality & disposition.

Flexible with hours
Ability to plan ahead
Must be courteous and have a pleasing personality when working with patients
Ability to read and comprehend, write legibly, spell correctly, and proof read
Ability to learn medical terminology and ophthalmic terminology and retain
Ability to work with all age groups
Basic computer skills – log on, find basic information from patient system, type at least 30 wpm
Basic math skills
