SENIOR EQUIPMENT MECHANIC

Public Works Department/Highway Division

The City of Woonsocket Rhode Island is conducting a search for a Senior Equipment Mechanic. Under the direction of the Highway Division Superintendent, the successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of light and heavy mechanical equipment. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following: inspecting and servicing equipment to avoid breakdowns and maintain efficient operation, overhauling engine, transmission and hydraulic systems, assembling and testing new equipment, designs and makes fixtures and attachments for automotive equipment, places requisitions for garage supplies and automotive spare parts. A high school diploma, or a GED equivalent, is required, or equivalent apprenticeship training in automotive mechanics. Six (6) to ten (10) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of motorized vehicles and equipment. Additional experience is required in welding and fabrication.
