WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Within this role the candidate will be a senior finance voice within the North American business. You will be the primary point of contact for our North America relationships, and their direct reports who manage Sales, Publishing, and Marketing. This role reports into VP Controller based in London and oversees all operational finance and supports FP&A activities across our offices in New York, Los Angeles and Toronto while business partnering internally and externally to support US business growth.
What You Will Do:
Controllership:
- Manage all North American accounting functions including transactions posting, customer billing, A/R, A/P, GL postings, cost accounting, and revenue recognition.
- Produce monthly financial statements, perform variance analysis and provide commentaries.
- Oversee tax functions for the US and Canada liaising with our external tax accountants and ensuring all necessary tax filings are completed in time.
- Production of year end audit files for both US and Canadian Companies, and support the head office statutory audit.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements; filing financial reports.
- Maintain internal control processes and ensure the systems and processes are efficient and utilized within the company.
- Manage relationships with bankers, auditors, and tax authorities.
- Lead monthly account reviews for US and Canada, working with VP Controller to ensure management accounts and reporting supports overall reporting vision.
- Support with monthly payroll processing when needed.
- Provide ad hoc operational support for the office and Human Resources.
- Oversee and support a direct report performing AR function.
FP&A and Management Information:
- Serves as an effective and aligned member of the management team working cross functionally to ensure that business performance is optimized.
- Manage forecasting and current year planning process.
- Perform variance and trend analyses while highlighting risks and opportunities in relation to budget, forecast and prior years.
- Provide advice and guidance on a range of regional, commercial and strategic initiatives.
- Provide insight on spending trends and cost savings initiatives and margin opportunities.
- Produce performance measure and KPIs to support future strategies.
- Lead the implementation of financial planning tools and processes.
Your Experience:
- 4-5+ years of relevant experience from a commercial financial decision role (media or digital/tech industry experience is preferred but not essential.
- Experience working closely with cross functional teams and executives.
- Experience being a part of a high growth business.
- Good people management experience.
- CPA Qualified would be preferred but not essential.
- Experience using SAP Business One and SalesForce would be beneficial.
