McAuliffe is a 18 year-old charter middle school (grades 6-7-8) educating 400 scholars who live in MetroWest: Ashland, Framingham, Holliston, Hopkinton, Marlborough, Natick, Southborough, and Sudbury. We are one of 155 EL Education (EL) schools nation-wide and one of nine EL schools in Massachusetts. EL is a non-profit organization devoted to providing network schools with a highly-respected model of comprehensive school reform with emphasis on high achievement through active learning, character growth, and teamwork. Position OverviewWe are seeking a Special Education Coordinator experienced at improving student service program operations, writing strong IEPs, and building capacity in case managers.

The position requires a unique balance of technical and interpersonal skills: an individual who is extremely organized and detail-oriented who also builds strong relationships with a variety of constituents. The Special Education Coordinator reports to the Director of Student Services and responsibilities include: -Manage the flow of IEP/504 related paperwork/deadlines using Frontline Special Education Management (ESPED) in accordance with federal, state, and school standards- Coordinate the scheduling of annual IEP/504 Team meetings and other Team meetings - Demonstrate and maintain knowledge of current Special Education laws, regulations, and best practices- With the Director of Student Services, provide annual training to all faculty/staff on special education laws and regulations; provide additional trainings / professional development to faculty or sub-groups of faculty, as needed- Maintain up to date special education files - Assist the Director of Student Services during the schools Tiered Focused-Monitoring reviews (TFM) including self-assessment, corrective action planning, and progress reporting Keep tracking documents up to date-Edit and give positive and constructive feedback on drafts of IEPs; provide feedback in a timely mannerCoordinate the scheduling of annual IEP/504 Team meetings and other Team meetings as requestedAttend and/or Chair annual IEP or 504 meetings; Participate in re-evaluation meetings as neededCommunicate with case managers and service providers when there are changes in service deliveryAssist in the student scheduling processAssist in the coordination of the ESY programCoordinate IEP progress reports; Participate in the review of reports & editingCoordinate standardized and interim assessment groupings and accommodationsSupport teachers on the coordination of MCAS-ALT portfolios, as neededEstablish an annual transition plan that ensures McAuliffe family needs are met this includes: Relationship building with district high school special education team chairs to support McAuliffe families through the transition process; Educating families on the transition process; Coordinating high school transition meetingsSupport the Director of Student Services on the transition process for incoming students; establish comparable servicesSupport the Director of Student Services with other tasks or special projects, as assigned Other Responsibilities- Serve as an active member of the McAuliffe Community including attending evening celebrations of student learning and admissions events.- Follow the schools faculty handbook related to school rules, policies, and procedures.- Fulfill duty responsibilities which may entail arrival/dismissal or lunch/recess duty.** Chaperone fieldwork (day or overnight) including camping trips and local activities that involve students building their background knowledge about specific topics including organic gardening, space research, and Massachusetts geology.Application InstructionsTo apply for this position, email the following to Michelle Arons, Director of Student Services: marons@mcauliffecharter.orgCover letterResume or curriculum vitaeList of professional references including capacity in which you know each person, affiliation, current employment, and email / phone contact information.
