THE ROLE
The Sr. Director, HR Business Partner will work with Retail Coffee Shop Outpost business leaders to implement HR strategies focused on talent management, organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, and employee engagement. In addition, they will own programs that run across the broader HR team. To be successful in this role, you must understand business priorities and translate them into the highest impact work. You will help business leaders look around corners with data-driven recommendations that improve performance, retention, and the overall employee experience.
YOUR TASK
- Partners closely with the Retail Operations leadership team to advise on all HR related matters.
- Strives to achieve and maintain trusted team member status, exercising good judgment with sensitive/ confidential issues – provides coaching and mentorship while facilitating conflict resolution and team building.
- Operates as a key member of the HR team, partnering with HR leadership to ensure policies and initiatives are holistic, scalable, and realistic. Acts as a liaison to the Retail teams to communicate systemic people topics and initiatives.
- Participates in the creation and implementation of people programs, strategies, and plans -implements and drives HR strategic initiatives across the Retail function.
- Supports Retail leadership team through organizational issues, talent strategies, and leadership development to include succession planning and identification of hi-potential and at-risk employees.
- Creates and analyzes people reports, dashboards, and datasets to facilitate quality, data-driven talent recommendations and decisions.
- Monitors the workforce plan throughout the year, reporting back to leaders regularly and partnering with Talent Acquisition to ensure recruiting efforts are aligned to business needs for the now and the future.
- Fosters a leadership development and training-centric mentality, including coaching of the Retail leadership and management team.
- Program manages all aspects of the performance management process for the Retail Team.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
- Investigates employee complaints and disputes.
- Periodic travel as required.
YOUR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Human Resources or other related field
- 10+ years of HR practitioner experience with recent experience in a Business Partner or Sr. Generalist role supporting a growing Retail, QSR or coffee business.
- Experience growing & developing front-line managers & creating a strong employee value proposition rooted in an exceptional front-line leadership team.
- Strong business acumen and demonstrated ability to contribute to cross-functional business and strategy discussions.
- Exceptional assessment skills.
- Experience driving annual Talent Management processes which include a comprehensive diagnosis of individual and team capabilities.
- Action biased, proactive communicator who flags risk and potential issues early on; facilitates appropriate resolution in a timely manner.
- Track record of leading, developing, and inspiring a cross functional team of HR professionals (may include leading and managing other HR Business Partners or Generalists) in a high growth, rapidly changing environment.
- Collaborative leader with a successful track record supporting a geographically dispersed leadership team.
- Experience successfully navigating a high growth, complex work environment-and thriving in it!
- Advanced communication capability. Can make the complex simple and tell an engaging story at all levels of the organization to “sell” initiatives, investment, and change. Speaks the language of the business. Does not rely on “HR Speak”.
- A passion for developing, coaching, and mentoring business leaders, both inside and outside of HR.
- Understands change management best practices and uses them to shape and pace change.
- US Military Veteran a plus.
