Position Summary

Manage the overall coordination and production of erection drawings and shop tickets for all structural steel products manufactured by Apollo Steel, Inc. Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely. Consistent and reliable attendance is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Supervise the production of erection drawings, production piece detail drawings, and material drawings for structural steel products sold, checking dimension of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, coatings and relation of various parts to whole structure or project.

Interface with Engineering and Production personnel to implement, create and maintain drafting standards.

Provide improvement recommendations to detailing procedures to reduce discrepancies between Engineering and Production.

Coordinate production scheduling between client and Drafting/Engineering/Production personnel. Maintain the internal Anticipated Production Schedule Report.

Supervise creation and maintain internal project documents and folders according to company policy.

Reads and comprehends architectural/mechanical/electrical/structural drawings, specifications, engineering calculations and design summaries to provide direction.

Utilizes knowledge of various computer programs, engineering practices, production practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings.

Uses computer three dimensional modeling and detailing software SDS/2.

Supervisory responsibilities of CAD operators

Education and/or Experience:

  • Associates Degree in Architectural Drafting; and
  • 5 years of drafting or steel fabrication experience dealing with commercial office, mid-rise and/or industrial structures; or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule during busy season, including late or irregular hours.
