The purpose of the department is to provide food and nutritional services to UCSF Medical Center. Incumbents in this position will determine appropriate stock control methods, plan, organize space, stock selection and issue products to department units and cost centers. Incumbents will be responsible for customer service, customer and vendor relations, planned purchasing coordination and inventory management using the computerized food cost management system.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Read, write, and be understood in English
  • At least one year of experience in customer service
  • Ability to use a computer keyboard.
  • Experience in data entry into database systems
  • At least three years’ experience working in a storeroom, stockroom, or warehouse, or equivalent in a large institutional setting.
  • This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one year of experience in food service
  • Knowledge of safety and sanitation in storage operations.
  • Two years of college or equivalent
