Staff Assistant-Workforce Development-Grant Accounting (Closing 1/20//23) Job at Oakland County Michigan
Provides financial and administrative activities for a variety of grant programs funded under the Workforce Investment and Opportunity Act. Assists the manager in the financial, accounting, compliance, monitoring and grant management functions required in the development of programs and daily operation of the division. Maintains current knowledge of grant requirements, subrecipient compliance, and ensures proper implementation of local, federal, and state workforce development grants. Assists in the development of the division budget, subrecipient allocations, gathering statistics and pertinent data for reference. Ensures that the division operates within budget guidelines, while maintaining grant compliance. Completes required financial reporting to federal, state, and local partner organizations. Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.

At the time of application, applicant must:
1. a. Possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a closely related field; AND
b. Have had at least two (2) years of full-time work experience involving grant management, accounting, monitoring, and evaluating government contracts, or financial reporting; OR
2. a. Possess an Associate’s degree or sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited college or university with a major in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a closely related field; AND
b. Have at least had four (4) years of full-time work experience involving grant management, accounting, monitoring, and evaluating government contracts, or financial reporting; OR
3. a. Be a High School graduate or have a certificate of successful completion of the General Educational Development (GED) Test; AND
b. Have at least had at least six (6) years of full-time work experience involving grant management, accounting, monitoring, and evaluating government contracts, or financial reporting.
NOTE: Applicants possessing transcripts from a college or university outside of the United States will be required to provide documentation of degree equivalency from a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (http://naces.org/members.html).The degree evaluation will be required for application processing.
5. Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical, established for this classification.
6. Successfully complete the six months probationary period.
