The Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR) is seeking to hire a Stores Clerk. This position works directly under the Distribution Services’ Office Administrator IV in the Operational/Special Services Division of Administrative Services. The ideal candidate will be able to perform routine clerical and storekeeping duties in the Illinois Department of Revenue’s (IDOR’s) Chicago Office mailroom/stockroom. Looking for an individual to operate mail machines, prepare packages, and send out sensitive tax information. This position delivers supplies according to requisition requirements, and receives, unpacks, and stores office supplies and forms in the mailroom/stockroom. The candidate will have experience working in a mailroom environment and will possess strong organizational skills. All interested individuals are encouraged to apply.

Job Responsibilities
- Under direct supervision, performs routine clerical and storekeeping duties in the Illinois Department of Revenue’s (IDOR’s) Chicago Office mailroom/stockroom.
- Operates mail machine/scale, affixing postage for 1st class and Certified mail.
- Assists in preparing and sending Federal and State tax information using an approved method of sending.
- Issues supplies according to requisition requirements.
- Receives, unpacks and stores office supplies and forms in the mailroom/stockroom.
- Maintains records of materials received and dispensed.
- Posts inventory records daily/weekly on personal computer and prepares monthly reports regarding forms and supplies issued.
- Receives orders for mailing of taxpayer forms.
- Travels to local satellite offices to perform messenger services and to assist in the delivery and set up of office furniture, equipment, as requested.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years high school.
Preferred Qualifications
- Six (6) months of direct work experience in a warehouse or similar environment.
- Six (6) months of direct work experience maintaining accurate shipping and receiving reports.
- Six (6) months of direct work experience assembling, packing, loading/unloading, and transporting stored good or materials.
- Six (6) months of direct work experience taking physical inventory of stock.
- One (1) year of direct work experience following oral and written instructions.
- Six (6) months of knowledge of storeroom methods and procedures.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires the ability to successfully complete a tax compliance and fingerprint-based background check.
- Requires ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods and lift boxes and packages up to 50 pounds.
- Requires a valid drivers’ license and the ability to travel.
- Requires the physical ability to operate materials’ handling equipment such as hand trucks, dollies, or scales.
