1. Identify and provide counseling services to Indian individuals and families experiencing problems related to alcoholism and/or drug abuse.

2. Conduct individual and group counseling sessions with clients.

3. Ability to maintain charts, completing appropriate Progress Notes, Chemical Dependence Assessments and Discharge Planning.

4. Conduct educational workshops, conference and classes.

5. Contact and maintain a good working relationship with other local alcohol service providers and coordinate activities (e.g. alcohol education workshops).

6. Provide referral resources and services to recovery programs, alcohol-related programs and assist with traditional treatment.

7. Attend staff, community, board meetings and training workshops/conferences as required.

8. Compete and submit periodic reports as directed by the Medical Director.

9. Perform all duties related to completion of program goals and objectives.

10. Perform other duties as assigned.

• Alcohol/Drug Counseling Certificate, Chemical Dependence Counselor Certificate Preferred, or previous experience in planning and providing community alcohol and drug prevention, intervention and treatment programs.
• Current CPR certification
• Must have ability to communicate effectively, dealing with various agencies as well as communicating effectively with Native American Indian youths, families and communities.
• Must possess skill in using computers and other office equipment; in composing correspondence; managing filing systems; gathering and summarizing information; and in planning, organizing, prioritizing, and executing complicated and continuing assignments. Must have the ability to correctly enter narratives and medical information into RPMS and the electronic health records system.
• Must have the ability to work in an independent and self-directed manner and assume individual initiative. Must be willing and have the ability to accept supervision and to follow directions.
• Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters with discretion and tact. Must have a general knowledge of and the ability to maintain HIPAA privacy requirements. Must sign a confidentiality statement
• Must have a valid, current California Drivers License; a personal automobile; and personal auto insurance with $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury and $100,000 property damage, or a combined $300,000 single limit. Must have a clean driving record. Must be insurable and eligible for coverage under TMWIHC policies.
