Winpak Films, Inc. is looking for a Technical Product Manager to join the Senoia, Georgia team.
The successful Technical Product Manager (PM) will bring a technical mindset together with business acumen and sharp analytical abilities to generate profitable growth for Winpak Films. The Technical Product Manager will report to the Director of Marketing and Business Development. This multi-faceted role will engage with diverse teams to develop, commercialize, and market growth product lines at Winpak Films. These products lines include vacuum skin packaging, chub film packaging, and barrier shrink bag product lines. The PM will be responsible for owning these product lines and for becoming the go-to resource for all functions such as sales, marketing, customer service, operations, and R&D. Vital roles include understanding and specifying technical elements of the product, developing marketing plans and collateral, preparing annual budgets, evaluating and managing pricing, improving quality, preparing technology roadmaps, creating and facilitating sales team training on product lines, and generating new business by working with customers and partners. The PM may manage Product Specialists in one or more of the product line areas.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Marketing
- Evaluate and quantify addressable market space for vacuum skin packaging, chub, barrier shrink bag / film
- portfolio.
- Identify market trends to catalyze new growth.
- Conduct competitive assessment and benchmarking of business and flexible packaging.
- Update, refresh, and maintain strategic plan for growth products.
- Develop and articulate voice of the customer to guide future investment and R&D activities.
- Develop SWOT analysis for Winpak Films’ ability to serve the relevant market space(s).
- Identify strategies for winning business at customers with existing supply contracts that include equipment
- such as Ilapak Rotary Sealing machines.
Commercial
- Develop leads list for area sales managers in the Protein, Dairy, or Other Market Segments.
- Develop and Conduct sales training.
- Spend time in at customers with Field Service Tech’s to develop film and equipment solutions expertise;
- uncover unmet customer needs and wants.
- PM plays a critical role in pricing recommendations and management for the portfolio.
- Create new marketing collateral for vacuum skin packaging, chub packaging, shrink bags, Flowvac, barrier
- shrink lidding, and Ilapak equipment.
- Support RFQ and bid proposals as well as equipment-oriented sales projects.
Technical
- Become the go-to resource for the product line for all functions including sales, marketing, customer service,
- operations, and R&D.
- Identify opportunities to improve product quality.
- Work with operations to identify optimization and efficiency gains through increased asset utilization, waste
- reduction, and mix management.
- Ensure compliance with all food and drug regulations in the countries which the Products are sold; with all
- Winpak internal regulations and Code of Conduct; with all other relevant laws.
- Work with R&D to develop sustainable solutions and conduct life cycle analysis.
- Stay abreast of commercial and technical developments within current and adjacent market spaces.
- Work with R&D to support new product development inception to commercialization.
- Support R&D field trials at customers with technical expertise.
Communication
- Promote teamwork, cooperation, and effective communication within all participating Market Segments and
- within Winpak more broadly. Interact with all levels of the operation in support all Winpak programs.
- Must interface well with all relevant internal parties (Market Directors, Sales Representatives, Operations,
- QA, Marketing, Business Development, etc.) to represent product relevant needs, opportunities, client
- feedback, complaints etc.
- Work effectively with informal authority and influence to coordinate with various group, job functions, and
- company business units.
- Maintain a safe working environment and perform all duties in a safe and professional manner.
Growth and Profitability
- Above all else, the PM must be passionate about growth and profitability improvement. Barrier Shrink Bags
- are a leading product produced by Winpak Films and requires careful management to achieve growth
- targets. The PM will be responsible for managing profitability improvement and growth of the BSB product
- line. These measures include Top-line sales growth; positive price/cost; manufacturing contribution margin
- (MC) and EBIT. Delivering growth and market share expansion for both vacuum skin packaging and chub
- packaging is also vital for Winpak Films and must be managed actively by the PM.
- Working with Market Directors and others, develop road maps for product line expansion (new technology,
- sustainability, equipment, etc.).
- Establish and refine forecasts for operations and plant schedulers by product type.
- Responsible for annual budgeting process for growth product lines.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Preferred a minimum of 5 years of experience in managing plastic/polymer-based technical product lines,
- preferable within the flexible packaging space.
- Multi-layer blown and/or cast film experience is desirable:
- Conventional and double-bubble coextrusion
- Bag making, slitting, laminating, and converting
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and organizational skills.
EDUCATION:
- Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree, preferably from within one of the following fields of study: Food
- Science; Polymer Science; or Chemical Engineering.
- Candidate must have a strong business acumen; therefore, an advanced degree (MBA) and/or additional coursework in business, management, finance is desired.
- The successful candidates must have technical mind/aptitude balanced by a strong financial acumen; strong
- technical project management skills; outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Languages: Spanish and/or French fluency is an advantage
- Proficient with MS Office Suite
COMPETENCIES:
- Strong technical aptitude. Able to understand packaging materials, complex manufacturing processes
- internally and at clients in the food, pharmaceutical, and medical packaging industries. Good base of
- understanding plastics converting processes and equipment (plastics extrusion processes -cast and blown).
- Strategic thinker with creativity, strong critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Willing and able to get into
- and stay in the details until the problem is identified and properly solved.
- Exceptional project and time management skills are required.
- Driven and self-motivated. Able to work independently and under time constraints.
- Understanding of commercial aspects of materials, manufacturing, sales, and marketing with strong
- business acumen.
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills, organizational skills, high level of integrity, and strong work
- ethic.
- Must have the ability to facilitate the resolution of complex issues.
- Elite listening and communication abilities, both internal and with external clients or audiences at
- conferences, as well as good interpersonal skills.

Location
- Position is based at Winpak Films Inc and is located in Senoia, GA. Senoia is a 15-minute commute south of the beautiful, master-planned Peachtree City, GA and only 45 minutes from Atlanta’s International airport (ATL).

Travel
- Candidates must be willing and able to travel up to 30% of the time.
