This is a skilled position responsible for assisting in the programming, installation, maintenance and repair of telecommunications equipment and low voltage structured cabling. The Telecommunications Technician is responsible for going on service calls to customer worksites and ensuring that world class customer service is delivered to our customers, while performing necessary work required to repair, maintain, and service the customer's telecommunications equipment and low voltage cabling infrastructure.

Physical Requirements & Job Environment:
Requires working both inside and outside under varying conditions of heat, cold and confined spaces. Must be able to drive to customer worksites, stand for long periods, sit, bend, stoop, climb ladders, crawl and manually lift 50 lbs.

Essential Job Functions:

• 
  Perform a variety of communications equipment installation, repair and maintenance at remote sites.

• Install, Terminate, Test and Troubleshoot Cabling (Cat3, Cat5, Cat6, and Fiber) for new construction and existing buildings.

• Ensure that all service tickets are complete and fully accurate and turned in to Sales & Service Coordinator for invoicing. Assists Sales & Service Coordinator with any questions or concerns regarding tickets.

• Assist with the counting of inventory on a monthly basis and at year end.

• Perform other related work as required.

Required Skills & Experience:

• In-depth knowledge of traditional and server-based business telephone systems, voice message systems, computer telephone integration, voice, network and data cabling.

• Two or more years of on-job experience and training in the telecommunications field, as it relates to the performance of the job functions above.

Educational Requirements:

High school diploma/GED. Vocational education in a technical electronics and/or electrical program preferred; or equivalent experience may be substituted for training requirements.
