Summary:

The ASPCA Foster Program is seeking an individual who is excited to be part of a committed team working to support at-risk felines in the Los Angeles area.

The ASPCA Foster Program provides temporary care for at-risk kittens and cats who need extra support until they can find adoption outlets. You will be working with a high-performing staff and volunteer team providing care for +/- 2,500 felines per year.

The Temporary Transport and Logistics Coordinator’s primary responsibilities will be to schedule ASPCA drivers for weekly transports of felines. This can include coordinating the transport of animals safely to and from LA County Animal Care Centers, foster volunteer homes, veterinary clinics, or other partner locations throughout Los Angeles and surrounding counties. The Temporary Transport and Logistics Coordinator will also order supplies for the Foster Program and manage supply inventories for all ASPCA Foster clinic and trailer locations and ASPCA vehicles, and will manage the distribution of supplies among ASPCA locations as needed.

The Temporary Transport and Logistics Coordinator will also be responsible for administrative tasks to support the program including maintaining weekly driver logs and vehicle calendar, submitting monthly vehicle reports and driver mileage reimbursements, and other administrative tasks as needed.

To succeed in this role, the Temporary Transport and Logistics Coordinator will be a team player and possess excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.

This is a temporary, contingent position and the person hired will be employed through a third-party staffing agency. This position is expected to last from March through mid-December. The Transport and Logistics Coordinator’s schedule will be Tuesday – Saturday 9am - 6pm PST, is subject to change, and requires working remotely.

The pay range for this temporary position is $21.25 hourly.

Responsibilities:

Animal and Supply Transport and Logistics (60%)

  • Plan and schedule weekly contract driver transport requests
  • Ensure contract drivers are transporting felines following ASPCA safety protocols
  • Assist the Foster Team with rideshare requests as needed
  • Place supply orders for fosters, all clinic and trailer locations, and ASPCA vehicles
  • Maintain program supply inventory and ensure all clinics, trailers, and vehicles are stocked
  • Schedule contract driver transports to distribute supplies across locations as needed

Administrative Support (40%)

  • Manage contract drivers’ monthly schedules
  • Update contract driver log and vehicle calendar weekly
  • Submit contract drivers’ mileage reimbursements monthly
  • Complete ASPCA vehicle expense report and vehicle use report monthly
  • Schedule vehicle maintenance and repair as needed

Education and Work Experience:

  • Must have one to three years’ experience in data entry, administrative or logistics support

Qualifications:

Excellent interpersonal skills; authentic team player willing to give and receive feedback; Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively and professionally via text, email and phone; Experience and comfort in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, and cloud-based document sharing platforms; Experience using online management systems, or willingness to learn; Strong organizational skills to track animal movement through the program and prioritize time-sensitive needs; Ability to work independently but also collaborate with a team that works remotely; Demonstrates care and concern for the safety and well-being of self, animals and others, especially during stressful situations; Fear Free® training will be provided and certification will be required within 60 days of start date
