Youth Services - Pre Employment Training (Pre-ETS) - Part-Time Job at Center for Living & Working, Inc.
Center for Living & Working, Inc. (CLW) is located in Worcester, Massachusetts and is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit agency founded in 1975 by a core group of young adults with disabilities. CLW is a consumer-directed, multi-programmed, multifaceted agency, dedicated to the empowerment of all persons with disabilities to live as independently as possible. CLW provides five core services: Advocacy, Skills training, Peer support, Information and Referral and Transitions.
The Center for Living & Working is currently seeking candidates for our Youth Services Skills Trainer Pre-Employment Training Services (Pre-ETS) - Part-time (20hrs/week) position. This person is responsible for:
- Providing Pre-ETS’ five core services (Job Exploration, Work Readiness, Self-Advocacy, Post-Secondary Education, Work Based Learning) with a focus on exposure to the world of competitive employment by way of one on one, and group workshops to youth with disabilities, ages 14-22, in a community or school setting.
- Developing and implementing individual and group activities and workshops to support Pre-ETS's skill development, i.e., effective communication, transportation, etiquette, computer literacy, scheduling, exploration of benefits, and budgeting.
- Conducting intakes and annual reviews. Accurate and timely documentation of case notes.
- Attending IEP/Transition Plan meetings to provide vital feedback to teachers, providers and the families.
- Accurate and timely submission of monthly student Progress Reports.
- Referring students to additional programs to ensure youth obtain additional supports and services for their success.
- Maintain a good working relationship with students, families, school staff, MRC offices, funders, and agency partners to ensure effective communication and program success.
- Teaching Independent Living skills and providing advocacy while promoting self-empowerment
- Other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions
- Conducting and attending workshops or meetings in public schools, private schools, in the CLW office and out in the community.
- Frequent communication (orally and/or in writing) with consumers, staff, medical providers, schools, state agencies, business partners/vendors and other third parties.
- Travel within the service area and beyond.
Required Qualifications:
- High School or equivalent (GED) required; associate degree preferred.
- 1-3 years of direct consumer contact, preferably with individuals or youth with disabilities.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Experience working with Excel, Microsoft Office, database management.
- Flexibility to meet the demands of the program and contractual obligations including working weekends, early mornings, and late nights.
Possess the ability to:
- Conduct group presentations.
- Accurately enter information into databases.
- Maintain strict confidentiality.
- Use office machinery, including calculators.
- Remain in a stationery/standing position for extended periods of time.
- Travel within the service area

- Work effectively with individuals with diverse disabilities and cultures

Familiarity with:
- Working in or involved with the disability community.

- Community resources and local service system for youth/persons with disabilities and how to arrange for services.
- Mass Health, state agencies, education and provider service system available to serve individuals with disabilities/ (older persons).
- State and Federal housing regulations.
- Civil rights for individuals with disabilities.
