Responsibilities include P&L reporting, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, comprehensive set of controls, and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

The successful candidate will have strong financial accounting and analysis skills, the ability to communicate cross functionally and the desire to identify and execute process improvement initiatives within the company.


PRIMARY ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Review and analyze monthly reports of P&L results, create forecasts, budget and assist with strategic planning.

Partner cross-functionally with various teams to develop the annual budget and ad hoc financial forecasts.

Review and identify inventory variances or errors caused by daily transactions. Partner cross-functionally to implement processes to fix and prevent from occurring.

Support management’s decisions with financial analyses as requested.


Assists in coordinating physical inventory procedures at Valparaiso and Traverse City plants.


Work with engineering to ensure the accuracy of bill of material and costing standards for production.

Attend plant production meetings and business meetings to understand the pace of the business and offer ad-hoc analysis in discussing results.


Be the point of contact for Valparaiso and Traverse City operations and staff for financial analyses and financial information requests.


Prepares and enter standard general journal entries and account reconciliations for month end where required.

Work within ERP system to input, manage, analyze and extract data for various reports.

Other general accounting responsibilities and special projects as required.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
 Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required
 Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Cost Accounting, Financial Analyst, or Controller capacity, preferably in a manufacturing environment
 Strong ERP background in a manufacturing environment
 Advanced knowledge of cost accounting, FIFO inventory, and GAAP accounting principles
 Strong time management skills
 Ability to effectively communicate with various corporate functions and leaders
