WHAT YOU WILL DO

As Project Coordinator, Spanish Language Projects, you will develop capacity within AGU Thriving Earth Exchange to recruit, manage and integrate Spanish-speaking communities of all types into Thriving Earths community science process to enable more Spanish-speaking frontline communities both domestically and globally to thrive and benefit from working with scientific and technical experts. You will support individuals within community science projects (community leads, community scientists and community science fellows) in 1:1 check-ins to troubleshoot and ensure projects succeed within a timely manner. You will ensure that eight (8) Spanish-speaking communities are recruited, onboarded, included and successful in both 2023 and 2024 with a total of sixteen (16) by the end of 2024. Beyond that time, you will have fully integrated Thriving Earth Exchanges community science approach in the Spanish-speaking community and enabled ongoing support of such communities.


WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • A Bachelors degree, plus 2-3 years experience
  • Bilingual in both English and Spanish
  • Intensive experience and knowledge of Spanish-speaking communities within North, South America and/or the Caribbean.
  • Solid network connections with Spanish-speaking community serving organizations, networks and communities in North/South America and/or the Caribbean.
  • Significant community science and/or community engagement experience with underserved/marginalized communities, particularly strong connections with Spanish-speaking networks and communities.
  • Enthusiasm for and commitment to community science learning Thriving Earths approach and supporting its adaptation in Spanish-speaking organizations and communities.
  • Experience in translating documents and interpreting online/in-person trainings and workshops from English to Spanish and vice versa.
  • Support Thriving Earth workshops/sessions/events at AGUs annual meeting, as necessary.
  • Enthusiasm for working within a dynamic, innovative and iterative team.


HIRING SPECIFICS

  • Full Time, Exempt, remote position in most of the US states
  • Position is funded by a grant for the first couple of years with anticipation of integrating fully within AGU Thriving Earth Exchange thereafter.
